Unified Planning Advisory Across Brands & Regions
Strategic advisory and solution validation to help a multi-brand consumer products company move off fragmented planning tools and Excel workarounds toward one unified, constrained planning process.
The Challenge
The client ran older planning tools for demand and supply planning with siloed planning by acquired brand — a fragmented process by brand that was further complicated by regional differences. Custom logic was propped up by spreadsheets because the existing tools couldn't handle the calculations involved. Further, the supply planning process was limited and did not generate constrained plans that accounted for material or capacity limits.
Our Approach
- 01
Advise on the unified process
Represented the client in an advisory role, working closely with the project teams to align all brands and regions on a single planning process.
- 02
Validate the configured solution
Performed thorough solution validation alongside the project teams to ensure the configured system was prescriptive, easy to understand, and error-free.
- 03
Unified Enterprise Data Integration
Built a cloud-based data pipeline using Snowflake and GCS to drive global demand and supply planning across all brands.
- 04
Stress-test for reliability
Assessed system performance, scalability, and reliability through stress testing to lay the groundwork for future project phases.
The Results
One process, no more silos
Aligned all brands and regions on a unified planning process, dissolving the work silos the old toolset had created.
Data-driven validation
Extensive solution validation gave the project teams data-driven suggestions that improved the end user experience.
Less dependence on Excel
Offered platform-based, one-click alternatives to reduce reliance on manually-driven spreadsheet processes.
A foundation for what's next
Assessed performance and scalability to lay the groundwork for future phases, building in configuration logic for pre-season forecasting, demand netting, and item size/color split.
