Project savings tracker for the purchasing organization of a Fortune 500 consumer goods manufacturer
Client Profile
The client is a Fortune 500 consumer goods manufacturer that makes and sells appliances worldwide. This particular program was focused on North America.
Business Situation
Every year, during the Annual Operating Planning (AOP) cycle, the purchasing department creates programs to align with savings committed for the fiscal year. However, keeping track of the progress against these savings goals has been a challenge: each plant’s tracker excel does not match, volume-based savings need accurate alignment with actuals manufactured and revised forecasts, lack of visibility and reporting, etc.
Solution
Radiant conceptualized and built a web-based solution from the ground up to create, track, and manage projects online by plant. The solution allowed for the modeling of one-time cost reduction programs as well as volume-based tracking of program savings. The solution also supported onboarding Excel-based trackers of program savings and supported financial reporting against AOP commitments.
Benefits
- Harmonized process to model and track each and every program across every plant through the entire life cycle of the program.
- Replaced Excel with an always-available, accessible web-based solution that made access to information easily available.
- Reporting of project performance and tracking against AOP commitments.
- Targeted workflows to support the needs of each role: finance, purchasing, and engineering.
The program led to multiple benefits, including
